Can you take Imitrex with Naproxen for migraine?
Combining sumatriptan and naproxen (Aleve) is an established practice. According to the research, sumatriptan 85 mg and naproxen 500 mg combo (Treximet) is better than either of them alone for migraine. Specifically, peak levels for this combination are higher than those reached with sumatriptan alone, and the half-life of naproxen is extended with the combination.
Can you take Imitrex with Acetaminophen?
There are no interactions between sumatriptan and acetaminophen. So it is safe to take Imitrex and acetaminophen (Tylenol) together.
Can you take Imitrex and Ibuprofen?
There are no interactions between sumatriptan and ibuprofen. So it is safe to take Imitrex and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) together.
Can you take Imitrex and Cetirizine?
There are no interactions between sumatriptan and antihistamines, including cetirizine (Zyrtec), loratadine (Claritin) and diphenhydramine (Benadryl).
Imitrex and antidepressants
Risk of serotonin syndrome.
The combination of sumatriptan with antidepressants (fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, citalopram, escitalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine) is not safe and should be taken with caution when indicated 2. As both sumatriptan and antidepressants increase serotonin transmission, the combination can lead to serotonin syndrome.
