Amoxicillin InteractionsCan you take Amoxicillin with Acetaminophen (Tylenol®)? Yes, you can. There are no interactions between amoxicillin and Acetaminophen. Can you take Amoxicillin with Nyquil®? There are no documented interactions between amoxicillin and Nyquil (acetaminophen/ dextromethorphan/ doxylamine/ pseudoephedrine) so he can take both. Can you take Amoxicillin with Ibuprofen (Advil®, Motrin®)? Yes, you can take amoxicillin and ibuprofen at the same time. Can you take Amoxicillin with Mucinex (Guaifenesin)? Yes, you can take amoxicillin and Mucinex together.
Can you take Amoxicillin with allergy medications (Claritin®, Benadryl®)? There are no known drug interactions between amoxicillin and allergy medications, such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) Claritin (loratadine). Can you take Amoxicillan with other antibiotics? Generally, bacteriostatic antibiotics should not be given in combination with bactericidal ones. Amoxicillin, a bactericidal antibiotic, requires the bacteria to be multiplying. If a bacteriostatic antibiotic, which stops multiplication of the bacteria, is taken concomitantly with amoxicillin, its optimal bacterial killing effect will be subsided. However, in practice there are many exceptions. The combination of tetracycline and amoxicillin may result in decreased bactericidal action of amoxicillin [3]. Avoid this combination when a rapid bactericidal action is required. There are no reported drug interactions between amoxicillin and most other antibiotics, including sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim (Bactrim) [4], nitrofurantoin (Macrobid). Can you drink Alcohol while taking Amoxicillin? There are NO known drug interactions between alcohol and amoxicillin [2]. Alcohol won't make the antibiotic less effective.
